Update – Very happy!
Purchased the Atom 3 axis gimble fly more kit in February 2024.I have only put maybe 2 hours of flight time on this Drone as I have been busy with outdoor projects. Today I had some free time and thought I would get some Drone time in. When I powered on the Drone and entered the Potensic app, there was a Firmware update notice to version 3.4.5. I decided to go ahead with the update since I had a fully charged Batteries and Controller. After the update I noticed my Gimble would not stay in the neutral position and would drift all the way up on its own. So I powered everything off, exited the App and tried again with same issue. I tried calibrating the Gimble but it did not fix the issue. Tried calibrating the remote control and was not able to complete the process because the Gimble control did not respond correctly.Powered off everything again, this time I could complete the remote control calibration but the Gimble still would pan up all the way and would not hold the position set.Ok, I give up and try contacting Potensic support, we will see how good the Customer service is at Potensic.Everything else works like it should, just the Gimble issue. This a deal breaker for me because I bought this for the great reviews and image quality at the priceI really hope Potensic will stand behind their product. I will update this review when/if I get a response from Potensic. After working with Potensic I decided this drone may be defective and returned it for a refund and went back to the drawing board to research another sub 249g Drone to purchase.UPDATE – Potensic reached out to me and offered to send me a new drone Kit with single battery to give the Potensic another try. Sure glad theyHorizoe received the new drone today 7/24/2024 and immediately started charging the Battery and Remote control. After a full charge I went thru and loaded the Potensic app, calibrated everything and went out to do some test flying. WOW! The Camera Gimble worked flawlessly, it did not move up or down by itself and the Horizon was dead flat. The video looked great, smooth and seemless. Battery life is very good and charges quickly. I went thru all the preconfigured quick shots, tried the GPS mapping, RTH feature, shot video at 4K 30fps, took pictures and I have to say this Drone really performs extremely well for the price paid.I am extremely glad Potensic reached out to me and asked me to give them another chance. So in conclusion, I would like to give a much deserved shout out to Potensic customer service for making EVERY EFFORT to add another happy customer to the ever expanding number of people who are flying Potensic Atom Drones, and thank you for not giving up on me!I would recommend this Atom Drone to family and friends and to anyone who is looking for a really fun quality Drone to fly!

The video is of my second day flying the drone (and I only used two batteries to film that) in Korea.I had never flown a drone before, not even a toy drone, so I was quite nervous despite having watched some youtube tutorials. Wow, it is SO EASY to fly!! Even on my first flight, after about 20 minutes I felt confident using it.Also, I was surprised by how tiny it is, haha. It’s literally about the size of my hand. The plus side is it’s lightweight and compact enough to carry around anywhere, but it’s hard to keep an eye on it in the sky, especially at a distance.On my first day, I spotted some deer running in a field. It was late afternoon and I was so thrilled to get footage of deer prancing along. Luckily I stopped and hovered for a second, moved the camera angle up, and saw I was just feet away from a smashing into bridge! Please check your surroundings!!It has so many perks. The customer service team is very responsive and helpful. The quality of the footage is fantastic at the price point. Quickshots and tracking are great, especially for a beginner like myself. The “fly more” package you get around 90 minutes of flight time, and can charge the other batteries via USB C while you’re flying. Again, it’s really easy to use… the controls are sensitive enough that you can pan/turn/lift, etc. as slowly or quickly as you’d like.The only negative is it doesn’t have obstacle avoidance. Of course, that would make it more expensive, but just be careful of all the surrounding and play it safe. If you can’t see the drone yourself, then please use caution and plan the route carefully. It can be hard to judge how close things are.I’m glad the company regularly takes feedback from customers and makes updates. I’m particularly happy about the option to cancel the automatic return to home and do it manually.I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting to get into drone photography or video, if you have no experience, and are on a budget. This is the one for you! Do not hesitate, just get it!!

Above and Beyond
Potensic went above and beyond to resolve an issue I was having with my drone. They sent a new drone in less than 24 hours after diagnosing the issue and provided prepaid postage for me to return the malfunctioning drone. This was even after the 30 days return window. This company will have your back and cares about the customer experience.In terms of the product itself, I thought it was pretty good even when malfunctioning but having a fully functioning, unit I’m blown away with the performance. I can attest it can reach and sustain 36mph in sports mode which is on par if not better than most drones in this class. The camera quality is good and 3X zoom is achieved by lowering the resolution to 2.7K, which is almost telephoto. As mentioned before by others, it also charges the batteries in parallel, so you could in theory just continuously fly the drone with the three-pack combo, only stopping to swap batteries. It’s an excellent starter drone. If you are considering this as your first drone, or haven’t flown drones in years, line of sight is crucial for a reliable connection and to stay legal. It’s an excellent flyer.If I wanted any more out of this drone it would be the option to have a larger capacity battery with a built-in remote id module and maybe beacon lights for night flying to stay compliant.The standard kit is a steal, but I guarantee you’ll be wishing you had the extra batteries in the combo package.If you have a protective case on your phone place the phone higher on the controller so the plug is protruding and not inserted into the tuck-away, or just stick something in the tuck-away area like a piece of paper. The additional thickness of a case can cause the end that plugs into the phone to be stressed at a slight angle.

I am really impressed with this little thing. It is really easy to setup and start flying for a noob like me, and the controls are easy to pickup and get used to. The video quality on this here is pretty impressive too, especially considering the price.The footage is really stable, even when in `sport mode` and going pretty fast (like 20mph in winds) – and the gimbal is easy to control and get the shots that I want without thinking about it too hard.One thing I noticed is that in `auto` mode while filming, it can really blow out highlights if there is a lot of contrast, say with green trees and white sidewalk. Fortunately you can modify the the ISO and shutter speed to help combat this, but it isn’t always ideal since you only have so many flight minutes per battery. I’m hoping later firmware updates will help here, but I’m not holding my breath – and it isn’t really a big deal.Battery life is really respectable, I am impressed with how long this thing flies. In my tests its like 20 minutes before I land, but I tend to land with some battery left in case I see something else I want to film or fly over – so I don’t doubt the advertised 30 minute flight time (assuming the right conditions)The GPS is pretty good, and I quite like the autoreturn and autoland features, but I’ve gotten more comfortable doing both manually (its kind of fun) so I don’t use that as much now. But it works, and works pretty good.I don’t have any complaints, I really like this thing and look forward to flying it when ever I see a nice day out. It checked all my boxes too:- be a good price- have good and stable footage- have at least 20 minutes of flight time per chargeI didn’t try any of the intelligent flight modes, and I’m not really super interested in them – but if I do try them I’ll update this review with additional information on what I think about them.But overall: this is a great drone, I love it and would buy another in a heartbeat.

Well said!Zur Fly More Combo:Vorweg, zu den Kommentaren bezüglich C0 Zertifikat ist falsch wegen maximaler Flughöhe (800m):Ein Software Update lässt nun keine Flüge über 120m ü. Startpunkt zu, also alles Safe und Legal mit C0!Nachtrag und ein Tipp: wenn ihr gute Aufnahmen machen wollt, geht im Videomodus in die manuelle Betriebsart. Sowohl mit der Belichtung wie auch den Weißabgleich. Sucht euch für die Gegebenheiten die beste Einstellung raus und dann los. Die Belichtungskorrektur macht im Automodus sonst echt keinen Spaß.Zur Hardware: 5/5Die Drohne macht einen (für das Gewicht, ist klar) wertigen Eindruck. Alles vernünftig verarbeitet.Gleiches gilt für die Fernbedienung, die Tasche und die Akkus. Die Lipo Akkus lassen sich entweder einzeln per USB C laden oder mit dem Combi Ladegerät, welches dann aber eine Steckdose benötigt (kein Makel!). Am Ladegerät ist dann auch eine USB A Buchse dran, mit der man die FB auf USB C laden kann. Die USB Buchse liefert aber nur Strom, wenn das Netzteil angeschlossen ist. Hätte mir hier fast gerne eine “Powerbank” Funktion gewünscht – also die drei Akkus im Ladegerät als PB zu nutzen. Ist aber auch kein Makel.Im Flugbetrieb lädt die FB das angeschlossene Smartphone. Dies sehe ich leider als etwas negativ an. Aber sei’s drum, immer alle Peripherie aufladen vor Abflug!Kamera 3,5/5Es sind echt 4k Aufnahmen. Und die sind eigentlich auch gar nicht so schlecht. Aber den kleinen Sensor merkt man den Aufnahmen durchaus an. Das Bild wirkt je nach Situation mal mehr und mal weniger grisselig – selbst tagsüber mit genug Licht. Da wird man mit der teuren Konkurrenz sicherlich bessere Ergebnisse erzielen. Aber hey diese Preis/Leistung ist für Einsteiger derbe optimal!!!Zu den Flugeigenschaften 5/5:Wenn man sich ein wenig im Vorfeld damit beschäftigt, was das GPS, die optischen Sensoren (OPTI Mode) unten und der ATTI Mode bedeuten bzw wie die Steuerung so ganz im allgemeinen funktioniert steht dem (zugegebener Maßen nervösen) Erstflug eigentlich nichts mehr im Weg – als Einsteiger sollte die Bedienungsanleitung vorher aber wirklich studiert werden!Die Drohne fliegt im GPS und Opti Mode wirklich ausgezeichnet stabil, der Gimbal federt Wind/Böen exzellent ab (siehe Video, ich habe mit der Atom eine andere Atom auf 120m bei Windstärke 4-5 gefilmt beide Drohnen stehen schräg und manövern, aber am Bild wackelt so nix).Die App/und Features 4/5 (vorher 3/5):Update: Flugdaten lassen sich in der Flughistorie nun (leider nur) rudimentär einsehen, immerhin. Luft nach oben!Die App ist insgesamt stabil, übersichtlich und Anfängerfreundlich. Einmal ist mir das Livebild eingefroren, aber die Drohne ließ sich auf Sicht wieder heile landen. Die Einstellungsmöglichkeiten sind verständlich, teils mit Zusatzinfos/videos versehen. Die automatischen Flugmanöver (bis auf automatische Rückkehr) habe ich noch keine einzige ausprobiert, diese kann ich daher nicht bewerten. Mag es manuell.Was mir jedoch noch fehlt: eine Option um den Rückkehr Punkt zu aktualisieren während man sich mit der Drohne vom Startpunkt entfernt hat (die Anleitung gibt diese Option jedenfalls nicht an).Zudem leider etwas negativ: Das Flugbuch, welches alle Parameter auszeichnet und im (zumindest bei Android) im Data Ordner abspeichert. Seit Android 13 haben User keinen Zugriff mehr auf diesen Ordner, also kann man die Flugbücher nur sehr umständlich über die Potensic App verschieben und ggf auswerten (Flugbuch -> teilen Funktion und dann mit einem File Explorer woanders hin kopieren).Zudem fehlt mir leider die Möglichkeit, zwischen GPS, OPTI und ATTI Mode selbst zu wählen. Das kann gerade in Innenräumen fatal enden, wenn zb. plötzlich OPTI (stabil über sensoren unten) in den ATTI (fliegt wie ein auf Eis fahrendes Auto), gewechselt wird – Zack, weg, ggf Crash. Das möchte ich unbedingt bitte selbst entscheiden können, oder direkt im ATTI Modus starten (was aber leider gar nicht geht).Auch wenn die App sehr Anfängerfreundlich ist, so wünsche ich mir doch etwas mehr Funktionalität und mehr Möglichkeiten.Der Service 5/5.Einen Berührungspunkt hatte ich bereits mit dem Service, und der war wirklich sehr zufriedenstellend.Preis/Leistung, wie gesagt, derbe optimal 5/5!Guten Flug!PS: Registrierung beim LBA nicht vergessen! Kennzeichen ans Luftmoped kleben, immer schön aufpassen, schlau lesen wo und wo nicht. und dann ab dafür.Langzeiterfahrung wird dann ggf hier noch ergänzen.Cheers.

I am so impressed! My friend has an dji mini 3 and even he had to admit it was just as good as his drone, and even has more fuctions. No issues, everything works perfect. Rock solid in strong winds and delivers bautiful pictures and video. Tested it out to 1,6km in less than ideal conditions before I lost contact, and the drone returned perfectly and landed within 1 meter of homepoint. Highly recommend this one.

this review is for a Potensic ATOM. I had previously bought an entry level (but well regarded) drone and quickly out grew its design; I wanted a more stable camera platform, better camera, RAW file capture and longer flight time. This has met my needs. It has been used to capture photographs of our properties for promotional purposes and the improved results have merited the cost. It has also opened my eyes to the fun and value of using a drone for photography, ordinarily I’m a keen still picture photographer but this has encouraged me to explore a different perspective. I have not found the issues raised in other reviews, it being easy to set-up and to pilot with all features proving to be reliable.
