Ooops I’m Scottish –
thrilled with this purchase
I’ve got all cameras installed. Compared to my Arlo, blink and ring cameras, this was a BREEZE to set up. Very simple wall mount, easy to put together but difficult for anyone to grab and remove. It connected to my wifi immediately. Instructions did not indicate to turn off your phone VPN during set up, so that’s important. However, they are semi charged so it didn’t take 5 hours to charge from zero charge. It took about an hour to fully charge the first thing I really appreciated is that the app tells you when the camera is charged so you can unplug it (during initial set up). This has a lot of features I didn’t read about that are a helpful unexpected bonus, such as the ability to NOT have alerts for vehicles. The cameras have a calibration feature, so once you get it in the preferred location, you calibrate the camera to it’s location.you don’t need a subscription, but can get one for the cloud. You add a 128 mg memory card in each ptz camera, and any video or pictures are stored there. However, it includes a 1 tb tower that the cameras connect to, and I’m not sure how pictures are stored there. Your video and pictures on the memory card are auto encrypted, but to see the full pic/video… You have to wait about 15 seconds for it to decrypt. This prevents stealing the pictures or hacking your signal to get pictures. So it’s important to set the alerts to send a snapshot for immediate viewing. It will also just send a text. Also, the memory overwrite itself when full, and offers the ability to download them, crop, share, etcAlso, don’t set up the features and camera names until the cameras are placed, or you may wind up doing it twice as I did.Another nice feature is the ability to set 4 standard views per camera, but you can also manually pan, tilt, zoom. You snooze the camera which was very effective while my handyman was running around outside.A very nice find is the kit includes the wall mounts, 10 ft type c cords, screws, etc. you don’t need to buy anything to get them mounted. The cameras have 10 different chime options, which is nice to differentiate cameras. You can set them to monitor continuously, or only notify for humans, cars, other, or all. If you live on a busy street and don’t want to see cars driving by, this is nice. You use OTHER to detect pets… Or wildlife. The ptz features work very well, and It seems to be learning. It has an AI feature that you can disable. I’m testing it out. You can also share your videos and pictures with the manufacturer to get points you can use for purchases. I’m not sure how many points it takes for that to be helpful. The cameras work with Google and Alexa. It was very easy to connect to this, but I googled the instructions. The batteries are built in, and I’m not sure if you ever replace them since you’d have to take it apart to do that, those batteries cost about $50.Once you plug the solar thing into the camera, the apps tells that it is charging and the source of power and the percentage of battery remaining. It records sound, and caught me talking to the handyman and it was easy to understand what was said. It idea a snooze feature as well to stop alerts, starting at 30 minutes with 4 other time settings.I haven’t figured out how to talk to anyone thru the camera yet. There’s even more settings, but that’s all I can think of now. The most time consuming part was clocking around in the app to see all the features and what they do.One last thing, the app for the store to purchase is not the save app for the cameras. But both apps have the same name, just different colors. The picture in the day and night is crystal clear. It’s 2k, but you can reduce it to 1080p or 720. Also it will auto downgrade and upgrade the recording speed based on your network.Because the pan is 360 degrees, and includes tilt and zoom .. you really can put it anywhere as long as the solar charger is within 10 feet of the camera. The 5 cameras replaced 10. I have a lot of angles, so this is a time saver. Also, since it is self charging, no need to climb ladders to change batteries every few months.I also got the smaller non ptz camera, and it works great too, just no pan or tilt. The zoom goes 8x I think and doesn’t pixelate … It remains clear. The cameras do need to be set up in the lower band of 2.4 ghz (is that right number), but once set up .. you can move your phone back to the higher GHz.. but the cameras can hook directly to wifi or to the included base.

Good security camera with no subscription
I saw this item go on-sale a few times, and this last time I couldn’t pass it up. The packaging is nice and professional. The quality of the camera and solar panel felt good out of the box, it had some heft and felt like it was of good quality. It was very easy to setup. You’re most likely going to need a drill if you are putting it anywhere outside, especially into a beam of wood or a facia board, etc.Picture quality is actually quite nice. I can see the license plates of cars pulling in, I have a wide enough view to see all my vehicles, plus the walk-up to my front door. The 360 degrees is nice, just realize its more like 350 degrees. It will go all the way to where you can basically see behind, but then you have to go around back the other way. Think of a pie / circle with a small slice taken out the back, thats where the camera can’t rotate, but you can still see behind it fine. It doesn’t tilt very far up but tilts down good. The default angle its facing at out the box is pretty much the highest UP it goes. KEEP THAT IN MIND! MOUNT IT HIGH AS YOU CAN!All the functions work just fine on the camera. The app is pretty good, isn’t too difficult to navigate or set up. I do not have the homebase yet, but plan on getting that with more cameras. Using an SD card for storage, just get one they are cheap for the 128gb. The phone app does take up some battery while using it. In the background its a lot less. But keep that in mind if your phone battery isn’t the best, or is old and doesn’t have the capacity it used to. The actual battery inside the camera unit lasts all night, and it charges up quick with solar.Overall good camera for the price. I didn’t want any subscriptions or anything and this was one of the best I could find in the price range I was looking at. The AI tracking had some kinks at first. You may have to mess with the sensitivity. Mine was recording flying insects at night a lot for no reason at first. After about the first week it seemed to stop. Either the bugs went away (doubt that) or the camera either learned through AI or had an update. It “bugged” me at first but it worked itself out after a few nights.

Awesome security cameras
Compared to my blink cameras these are amazing, live view is super fast, solar panels keep up with intense battery usage. Image quality is good at 2k resolution. This camera has a sleeper feature where is capable of doing 24/7 recording by plugging the camera in with a usb c cable 5v 2amp. They sell these cables on amazon that are really long, however you will need to purchase the homebase 3 unit to be able to get this feature and this set comes with homebase 2. After getting the homebase 3 you will also need to purchase an additional hard drive to be able to access the continuous recording feature. In solar mode it doesn’t have pre recording but it records exactly when the motion begins so you’re not missing a few seconds of footage.

I’m a huge fan of Eufy products and have gradually over time, replaced all the Blink and Arlo cameras with Eufy cams. I appreciate that they don’t require you to have a subscription, but offer one if you do. When we go on vacation I opt for a one month subscription. It’s very convenient. The solar security camera is really easy to install and because it’s battery operated or powered by solar, it can go anywhere providing there is enough light to operate the solar. That’s one of the big consistencies with Eufy, the ease of installation/set up. I was very impressed with the mounting bracket, it made it extremely straightforward to install it over 15ft up a tree using a 10ft ladder. First install the bracket and then slide the camera onto the bracket. The camera can be removed from the bracket by simply depressing the tabs on either side. I would recommend installing it as high as possible to prevent an intruder from absconding with your camera. There isn’t a whole lot of sun available in our backyard so I can’t weigh in on the effectiveness of the solar panel, we might have to trim some branches from the surrounding trees and I’ll weigh in on the solar after it’s been in operation for awhile. The picture quality is excellent. It does not false trigger with cars driving by or birds flying by, but when anyone is in the backyard it will activate and track the individual until they leave the trigger zone. Our deck security light gets triggered during the night and now I’ll be able to figure out who the culprit is (probably feral cats, a bear or a fox). Normally I get up to check, now I don’t have to, I can just check the Eufy app from the comfort of our bed.Update #1. It was lightly raining and windy last night and the camera kept triggering continuously even after it was set to lowest sensitivity and only human detection. Had to shut the camera down to preserve battery life. To say it’s sensitive is an understatement. That is not a good thing. False triggers that result in the camera needing to be shut down means the app needs some work to differentiate between actual intruders and being triggered by inserts, pollen, rain, snow etc. Dropping it a half a star. So 4.5 stars.Update#2. Impressively the camera has figured out the difference between what should be triggering it and what it can ignore. It was raining and windy again last night, much like the night I shut it down due to the incessant false triggers, but tonight, with the exact same weather conditions there was only one triggered event during the night. Back to 5 star rating.Update #3. The camera has been up for a week now and for the duration of the week it has either been overcast or raining. No periods of full bright sunlight. (Early spring here). The solar panel is sitting on top of the camera and facing S, but is also obscured partly by some tree branches. On a good day, it might get 4 hours of direct sunlight. The camera is running solely on solar power. Even after a week the battery has only dropped to 97% on one occasion, the rest of the time it is at 100%. The panel seems to be able to capture the slightest amount of light and run interrupted. Getting more and more impressed with the camera. The picture quality is also spot on.

The cameras work well for 8 days then stopped working. home base states that it is busy ( doing what? its only job is to provide security footage and memory storage). The home base is advertised as having a 16GB expandable storage, yet no further information is provided on how to expand the storage. Eufy has failed to reply to my query on this ( I suspect that they will try to upsell me a paid subscription to a cloud server)I purchased this unit for $803.00 one week later it was advertised for $349.00 on the Eufy website.Eufy customer support is customer support only by name, its just two words that mean nothing, don’t expect anything from Eufy in the way of customer support.I think that I need a full refund, what do you think?

I set it up right out of the box and it took me less than 10 minutes no tech headaches at all. The picture is super clear and I love being able to check in from anywhere on my phone. The solar panel is surprisingly efficient; I haven’t needed to mess around with charging it. The AI tracking is smart and doesn’t spam me with alerts for every little thing, just the important stuff. No monthly fees is a huge bonus. Super happy with this purchase—totally recommend if you want easy home security that just works!

Simple to install and works well. Solar Charging works well and maintained a full charge for the last 6 months. Movement detection for people and vehicles is good and recordings are HD and clear. The only downside would be its operating temperature range. I may have to take it down when the very cold Alberta winter temperatures eventually arrive, and put it back up in spring.
