Fun little project, but not a fan of the ‘non-store’ app option
I got this to have as a little project with my daughter, but I knew that she might be a little young for it (5 years old). She stuck with me through the first few pages of instructions, but I was left to assemble it myself after that. I won’t lie… I had fun putting this together for the most part!Once I got used to the instructions, I found it straightforward to assemble the first robot. The pieces were all well formed for the most part (more on that in a moment), and despite the sheer number of them, I only had to back-track once for where I had put the wrong piece in and thought initially that I was missing a piece (I was not). Everything went well with assembly, except for when it came time to put the ‘head’ of the robot on the ‘body’. I am fairly strong adult male, and I had to take part of the robot back apart and use a massive amount of pressure to get the head to snap on to the body. These pieces that connect the head to the body were the only pieces I encountered that were clearly out of spec. If I had not taken part of the robot apart to connect the head, it would have absolutely broken something. Once I got it put together it has stayed on there, but definitely should not have taken that much effort.Once assembled, my daughter wanted to play with it, and she enjoyed using it with the included remote control. One of the things I had liked about this unit before ordering, was the fact that it was programmable via app. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that the app is not on the app-store, but it is downloaded from a Chinese website. I can’t bring myself to download it to my phone without know more about what it might contain, and this was a bit disappointing. Still, my daughter has had fun playing with the remote control and the robot looking like a certain cute movie robot didn’t hurt! For an older kid (or kid-at-heart adult) this might be a fun model to put together, but I had to dock a star for the issue with the fit of the head to the body and the non-store app.

Very fun to build
Great if your child likes STEM. It take a little bit of time but well worth it to stimulate their minds during the long summer vacation.
