Sandisk SSDs are very good affordable replacements for a dying mechanical drive. I have fixed many laptops for friends and family when their older laptop was experiencing a slowing mechanical drive. Sandisk is very good quality and very affordable. I recommend Sandisk!

SOMETHING CUSTOMERS MUST KNOW.THIS IS A DRAM-LESS SSD. THE ADVERTISED SPEEDS ARE FOR THE 4GB CACHE THAT ONCE IT BECOMES SATURATED – YOUR INSTALL/HANDLE SPEED WILL BE VERY SLOWany task under 4GB will be processed without notice. Any task over 4GB will get fast speeds for the first 4GB until the cache fills up, and then after that information is stored on the drives NAND memory which is slower than the cache speed.OS will run fine, surfing web, gaming etc will be fine (once games are installed). Installing those games, or any large set of files, or doing any graphic design will be slow.If you move large files around a lot – get a ssd with DRAM.

SSD Compliant with Standard SATA
This SSD carry the same SATA specs as all SSD’s that comply with SATA standards, so there isn’t any non-bench test way to say whether this is better than another SSD. Samsung is noted for quality memory products but about 50% more expensive than this SanDisk, WD, Crucial, etc. which are long time US brands. SanDisk was an original producer of USB drives 20-years ago and then SSD drives, then acquired by Western Digital and spun off as independent company in 2025.Thus, SSD is faster than spin HDD, but longevity is unknown, but it can’t be any worse that the 7-9 years that I’ve experienced with WD and Seagate spin HDD’s. This replaced a spin HDD in an 2013 iMac (in 2025) and has given a new speed life despite an older Intel i5 4-Core CPU. Mac OS10.15 Black Magic Utility rated Read/Write speeds of 400-500MB/s compared to 50-100Mb/s for OEM SEagate 1TB spin HDD. If your PC has a PCIe bus, the NVMe “blade” SSD has much faster speed than SATA SSD, but I already had this SSD when I discovered the PCIe option. Regardless, Storage Memory will fail (twice for me) and without backup like a cloud storage or onsite NAS, your files are at risk even if the failure is 7-9 years from now.

ＮＥＣのＩ５タイプのＶＮ７７０Ｃ用に再購入です古いタイプのＰＣでＨＤＤ接続しているものから交換すると、立ち上がりから始まりワード等の動作も恐ろしく早くなりますね。サイトからダウンロードして使える無料のクローンアプリで相性が合うかどうか心配でしたが、クローン作製もあっけなく終わり快適でしたＶＮ７７０内臓のＨＤＤが、ＷＤ製の１ＴＢ物だったのでアプリとＳＳＤとの相性が良いようです。老舗はやっぱり安心感がありますね

After an update on my Linux machine I received a message from the system that the Samsung 250 GB SSD in my Toshiba laptop was likely to fail soon. This came as no surprise to me as it was running painfully slow and had been for some time. So I decided I wasn’t going to muck around with another 250 GB disk. I would find a 1 TB replacement disk to enable greater storage capacity and have done with it. Then I would then simply install a new version of my favourite Linux distro from a USB stick, which I already had to hand. No need to use any recovery software of any kind. Just simple and straight forward.After reading a few reviews I stumbled upon the SAN Disk 1TB SSD. I have never had any problems with their USB storage devices in the past and given the lack of other options and after reading many reviews, I decided I was going to go with this.Fitting this replacement SSD was super easy. So easy a child could have done it. In fact, the hardest part of the whole operation was hunting around for the right size Philips screwdriver to remove the relevant section of casing/plastic panel from the laptop. Then it was simply a case of removing the old SSD, putting the new one in and then putting the plastic panel back on and job done. The new SSD was slightly smaller than the original that took up the whole space but once the new one was slotted in, the extra gap didn’t make any difference.I installed the new OS from a USB stick and the whole operation from start to finish took minutes. Even the installation of the OS itself was fast. Boot up, as expected, was fast as was the installation of new programs. So overall, I am very happy with this purchase. If anything changes in the future and I develop problems of any kind, I will come back and write an addendum to this review. But I don’t anticipate that that will be the case.
