Great tracker
I have now purchased four of these for my fleet. They’re great. I can customize settings and alerts to how I want them.The PlanetGPS website and app are very simple and straightforward forward and it offers useful information such as fuel level, driving behavior, speeding alerts etc. I found the GPS is quite accurate and reliable in comparison to most brands in this price range. This is congruent with brands that are 3x the price. The other ones I tried in this price range or cheaper often track fewer things or have less accurate GPS.Set up was a breeze. Download the app on your phone, create an account, then plug the device into the OBD port on your vehicle. That’t it. Once you’re set up, you have to drive for a bit for everything to sync up and start working. Don’t get alarmed if you don’t see trip data. It will show up once installation and syncing are complete.

I bought this back in August 2024. It helps me a lot keeping my fleet secure. I’m in San Francisco Bay Area and never had disconection problems. I like the history log, how it tracks the movent, engine on/off, even if the device is pulled out. It’s a 10sec install.

I bought this gps , plug in on my car , download the app , but is not especification where from get the service , , it just appear on app out the service , . Doesn’t said 4g service need or insert a phone card on it , not instruction.

The tracker works in California
I bought this tracker for my daughters car. It was simple to set up and activated in 5 minutes. The only reason for the 4 stars is the “real time” updates to have a lag of a few minutes not 10 seconds. It was the best value tracker for the money so I can’t complain much.

Works like a charm, we purchase the yearly plan and now we know where my wife mother is at all times. We were concerned about here memory and her possibly getting lost. With this unit we get notified when ever she leave home and where she is at all times.

Rapid acceleration notifications are not accurate
Rapid acceleration notifications are not accurate. I got this for my son. I was very upset with him until I took his car out for a drive. The rapid acceleration notifications are inaccurate.

Long but worth the read if your looking for a tracker-I bought 3 of these units,1 portable 2 OBD, first, The Customer Service is Awesome! second to none! The trackers work amazing to within 3-5ft in Location, set up is super easy! you can Ping them yourself, PC interface to make major adjustments,app for other settings, all VERY EASY TO USE! they come with the SIM card already installed, you just sign up online-super easy,and they activate incredibly fast. The magnetic one (big box in pic) has an incredible battery life and very strong magnet, although I recommend using a couple of zip ties as well for external mounting, just in case👍🏻. I get peace of mind knowing my Harley is always trackable, and the OBD units display a host of of info about the car in the app, coolant level, fuel press, speed, rpm etc, too many to list here. I highly recommend Planet GPS for the simplicity of use,Price, Customer Service and design features if you want to track your assets. I use an OBD extension and have the trackers under the dash out of sight.Again I csnt say enough about the Customer Service, the got back to me at 10pm on News Years Day after emailing them at 9pm that night over a small problem with signal, and stayed with the problem until it was resolved! Amazing!

After a fair amount of research I purchased several PlanetGPS OBD2 gps trackers, and I have been using them for over two years.I’ve been very happy with the units. They are competitively priced and the subscription cost is reasonable, and as I’m in Canada, the prices are in CAD$.The unit is “plug and play”. It just plugs into the vehicle’s OBD2 port and is up and running in short order.It has a number of features I was looking for, including real-time tracking, historical playback and basic vehicle analysis via the OBD2 port.The units have been very reliable, with no issues.I would recommend them if you are looking for an inexpensive, reliable vehicle tracker.
Nobody Told Me –
My initial review gave this 4 stars due to the subscription pricing, which was listed at $5/mo but turned out to be $10/mo. However, needing to renew now, I see the price for a year is now $7.50/mo. Glad they adjusted the pricing, so I’ll move my rating to 5.After a year’s use, and after trying a couple of other of the most popular GPS tracker, I’m sticking with PlanetGPS. The UI is dated and clunky, but it’s still probably the best interface of all the GPS trackers I’ve used. During the winter, probably due to the cold, the ODB will lose power and tracker will show ‘disconnected’. The built-in battery will last quite a while, at least a day I think, so even when it’s disconnected you’ll still receive tracking information, you just won’t receive the start/stop notification. But I’ve had it stay disconnected for days at a time and the battery depletes completely. The car this is installed in has a very short commute, so I think if you have a longer commute and the cabin warms up well, this may be less of an issue.The tracking itself is very reliable, although that’s been my experience with the others GPS trackers as well. What stands out with PlanetGPS is the rate of refresh, which I believe is 5 secs (or maybe it’s 10). The other trackers I’ve tested are usually around 30 secs, and some of them require a higher tier subscription to even get 10 or 30 secs refresh tracking (with standard being 1 min).So overall, this is the best value tracker out there. This is really a 4.5/5 rating, but I’ll round it up. I wished they would update the app and interface, even renewing it was more difficult than necessary.

After reviewing other products i chose this primarily for the remote diagnostics and the tracking as a secondary function. The install and setup was rather painless however the diagnostics does not work despite the app showing the capability. I confirmed the obd port is functional as my scanner tool connects just fine. UPDATE. Since reaching out to support they have refused to give any answers to why the issue persists but rather if i am dissatisfied to return the product. Shortly after they have shutdown my user account and the device is no longer online. BUYER BEWARE.
