Recommend!! Quality Hue Product at Half the Cost of Original Hue Bulbs
These hue essential bulbs are compatible with hue bridge and original hue eco system at half the cost! The color range seems almost exactly the same as the original and I am extremely satisfied. Controllable also by Bluetooth in case bridge is offline. I don’t hear any noise and they work perfectly! No flickering like the cheaper WiFi bulbs I had before. Highly recommend and they keep the WiFi clear instead of adding a lot of small devices to your network.

    Finally some affordable Hue lights
I’ve been waiting for more afforable Hue bulbs since Hue came out. These are fully functional white and color lights, and the color modes are brighter than other brands I’ve used. Glad to start getting some ceiling lights and fixtures on the Hue ecosystem.I had no issues pairing these with my Hue bridge. The Hue website says these have more limited dimming capabilities than the main line of Hue, but honestly these dim down to almost off and I’m not sure you would need to go any further than that. I’m looking forward to adding more of these to my smart home!

    Good Starter Smart Bulbs
I’ve had a combination of Philips Hue White and Color, White Ambiance and Hue soft white smart bulbs since 2018. The new Essential bulbs are a fraction of the cost of their main color bulbs and provide similar functionality. They are limited to 800 lumens but are still brighter than the older 800 lumens soft white Hue bulbs I replaced. I have only tested these with the Hue Bridge and do not know what the functionality is like using just Bluetooth. The only negative I could find is there is a slight pink tint when you set these bulbs between 85% to 100% warm white. I rarely set my lights to that setting so it’s not a big issue for me. The more expensive Hue White and Color Ambiance bulbs don’t have the same issue.I would recommend these to anyone looking into smart lighting.

A good addition to the Hue lineup, but with some compromises
Having just moved into a new home, I didn’t want to break the bank on expanding my Hue ecosystem. Even the white ambiance bulbs hover around $20/each, which is a hefty price to pay. However, the ecosystem and its ease of use (and its inabililty to clog my WiFi network) was something I wanted to stay inside of, and these bulbs offered an interesting value proposition.Upon installation, I was decently impressed by the product. I put these in a ceiling fan on our main floor, primarily to give dimming capability. The pairing process with the hub was effortless, and within 5 minutes they were up and running in HomeKit. In a fixture like this where there’s four bulbs, they get plenty bright, and the color reproduction is pretty decent too. Sometimes, I do notice some lag when fading the grouped bulbs in HomeKit, but things catch up fast enough that I won’t complain too much; this was also me playing around with what they were capable of, so I was moving pretty quickly through settings. There’s one warning I would give: like some other reviewers, I have noticed a heftily reduced capability in the white spectrum, even in the 2200K-6500K advertised by Philips. These will absolutely not give those beautifully orange whites below 2700K, and sometimes even around that mark I can notice a little pink coming through. For my needs, I would never use these in a bedroom where that deep orange glow of a dimmed incandescent is desired, and even when dimming using HomeKit’s Adaptive Lighting feature it’s a noticeable shortcoming in the product. The RGB spectrum doesn’t feel nearly as handicapped, though; colored lighting isn’t an issue. If those deep warm whites aren’t a big deal for you — and for me, in this space, they aren’t — then I would highly recommend these as a good value proposition that works pretty well. I also probably wouldn’t mix and match these with the regular Hue lineup, but for my main floor these will likely be in every fixture eventually.

Finally the answer to best smart lights at a reasonable price
This is the answer for having the best smart lighting exoerixne at a reasonable price. It is still a bit more expensive than other brands but if you already started your hue ecosystem, look no more for compatible devices.

    Audible humming/buzzing sound
I had high hopes for these, unfortunately they fall way short. I purchased two four packs as part of bathroom project. I got them installed, flipped the power on, and immediately heard humming/buzzing. I thought maybe it was just one, so tested one bulb at a time. 6 out of 8 make an audible humming or buzzing sound. Not acceptable for me, especially when they are still more expensive than competitors. I get these are meant to be the budget friendly line, but the quality is just bad. I would advise anyone to stay away from the Hue Essential line, at least for now.

Outside installation and fast integration with HomeKit
I purchased two 4-packs of these bulbs and have them installed outside in covered (but not fully enclosed) fixtures. Two are installed for our porch, two on the attached garage and three on an external garage, which leaves me a spare. They were immediately seen by the Philips Hue bridge and integrated right away in HomeKit. Control of the bulbs is done either by Siri or through the Home app (or the Hue app). I’ve set up a couple of scenes and everything works. I realize these bulbs are not intended for outside installations but so far, so good. We’ve had a few nights of freezing weather and rain and I’ve had no problems. I guess I’ll see how they make it through a Chicago winter but no complaints so far.

I already have several Philips Hue bulbs and a Hue Hub in my setup, so this new Essential A19 bulb was an easy addition — and a noticeable upgrade. It paired instantly with my existing system, and the newer features really stand out. The candlelight and flicker effects are surprisingly realistic, giving a warm, cozy glow that’s perfect for evenings.Brightness and color range are excellent — from soft amber to crisp daylight white, and all the colors in between. The transitions are smooth, and the app controls feel faster and more responsive than my older bulbs.Setup through the Hue app was effortless, and it synced with my existing scenes and voice automations right away. The only minor difference I noticed is that this model feels slightly less bright than my top-tier Hue bulbs, but the effect modes more than make up for it.If you’re already in the Hue ecosystem, this bulb is a great upgrade that adds fun new effects and keeps that same dependable performance Philips is known for.

Great lights cheaper then the other hue light just wish they came in a 7 pack of lights instead of 3 or 2 or 1

This light is too cold and the app is incredibly convoluted.I have a Govee smart bulb. I wanted to see other led lights and Hue came highly recommended.I got the app and set it up. I will say the colored aspect performs better than Govee but I don’t give a heck about the colored nonsense. I got this for reading and am looking for something that mimics an incandescent light without the heat. This light is garbage for mimicing incandescent light… Even on the ‘warmest’ setting it feels cold, as if its missing part of the spectrum that Govee bulbs have. On top of that the warmest setting is way too orange. Also the app is incredibly confusing… Why isn’t there just a temperature slider between warm and cold light? If you’re going for a hospital waiting room or call center floor then by all means get this light. But if you want 80s or chapel like incandescence skip this bulb.
