Gaming Immersion on a Whole New Level!
Upgrading to the MSI MPG 491CQP has completely transformed my gaming and productivity setup. The QD-OLED panel is simply breathtaking. The colors are incredibly vibrant and pop off the screen, and the black levels are truly infinite, creating a level of contrast and depth that’s just jaw-dropping. The 49-inch super ultrawide display wraps around your field of view, making games feel incredibly immersive. For work, the screen real estate is a game-changer. Gameplay is exceptionally smooth and responsive, thanks to the high refresh rate and near-instantaneous response time. It’s a serious investment, but if you’re looking for the absolute best in class for an immersive gaming and media experience, this monitor is it. An easy five stars.

Best ultrawide on the market
Huge fan of the monitor. The thing is a beast and gives off very little in the way of heat, so unlike competitors, it doesn’t make your office a furnace. Another thing it does well is the color palette. The deep blacks of the OLED are impossible to beat, and the HDR is miraculous. The high refresh rate is another big bonus. Lastly, the burn-in protection functions are mostly unobtrusive and protect the screen after a long day of gaming. I would definitely recommend this screen to anyone looking for an ultrawide monitor, especially when compared to the G9 series. The value that is offered here cannot be beat.

An amazing monitor for its value.
I bought this monitor to replace my dying Samsung Odyssey G9 (non-oled) because the OLED version would’ve set me back double what this monitor costs. For the price, this monitor is amazing. It’s bright, the colors are fantastic, and the OSD does not suck. I run this on a 4090 so I can make use of the high refresh rate and resolution, and games look amazing on it. The panel care is great, non-intrusive since it runs when I’m asleep. The monitor is lightweight enough to put on a monitor arm that doesn’t cost 300 dollars. Overall, I’m really happy with it.

Great Monitor, Unfortunate Experiences
I was really excited about this monitor when I first received it and wish I could be leaving a better review. The picture quality is fantastic and the colors are crisp and vibrant.Approximately three months after my purchase, the screen began to flicker in and out on occasion. Eventually, it went completely black, and did not come back. I contacted MSI customer support and opened a ticket. They directed me to repackage the monitor and ship it back for repair/replacement. Per MSI’s customer service guidance, I was to be responsible for the shipping cost, which ended up being nearly $200. After waiting the few weeks for resolution, I received a monitor back from MSI. I quickly realized that the monitor that was shipped back to me was not the repaired original, nor was it a new replacement. Instead the display I unpackaged had been previously opened and was since refurbished. The screen on this replacement has markings along the top that I have been unsuccessful in cleaning off, but are largely unnoticeable while the display is on. On top of everything else, the “new” monitor came packaged with an open box/refurbished/pre-owned warranty notice specifying a far more restrictive warranty period (180 days). So in short, I ended up paying nearly $200 more to end up with a refurbished version of the monitor that I had bought brand new in December of 2024. If I knew that this would be my experience, I would have explored other options.

Helps me get more work done!
Great price and quality for the money. The monitor display has a good picture, and the height adjustment make it easy to bring to eye level while working. Very functional and durable. This monitor helps me to get more work done!

Excellent picture. Mildly Annoying
I’d give it 5 stars but for one aspect, it has these cyclical anti-burn-in shutdowns every 4 hours. The monitor will first prompt you that it intends to turn off for 5 mins, and you can defer it a few times, but eventually you have to wait. It is always inconvenient and potentially devastating, particularly during gaming or trading, so don’t count on this monitor to always be there when you need it most. Also, I have top of the line 8K HDMI cable and still get rare dropouts, but it resyncs quickly. Not sure if this is also part of their OLED preservation algorithm. The whole strategy just seems poorly executed and thoughtless.Other than this, by far the best visual experience monitor I’ve ever had. Black is black, and the colors are dreamy. This is truly an enormous screen.EDIT: new computer, no longer suffering intermittent dropouts. I’ll take the L on that one. Also, the anti-burn-in cycle prompts seem to be farther apart by many more hours, and I should have mentioned you can defer the first attempt by canceling the popup using their joystick on the back of the monitor at the bottom, but that’s a non-trivial task that will force you to stop whatever you’re doing momentarily. About 1.5 years in now, picture is still as good as day 1, no issues

Great Monitor with great warranty period.
Amazing picture for my RTX 5080. Peace of mind with the 3 years warranty. Oled care does not bother me unlike other reviews posted.

This was my first experience with OLED, and I LOVE IT, I can’t go back.I was unsure to switch to OLED because people mentioned how reading font on OLED could look blurry / have artifacting but honestly I find it just as crisp as my old monitor!I was also not going to swtich to OLED in case of burn in, however there are many options that MSI added to help prevent burn in, and they’re automatically enabled on the monitor out of the box. I will be cautious and hide my shortcuts and taskbar etc. anyways. But with these out of the way, I decided to try this monitor and I am so glad I did.Great colour quality! Really vivid colours! Deep blacks! Software is easy to use. The picture brightness for blacks isn’t bad at all, I just wish one of the settings in the monitor menu bumped up the shadows just a little bit more for my liking. But that was easy enough in the Nvidia settings for now for gaming. I was able to get amazing picture quality, and have it just the way I like it, and still maintain really nice colour and vibrancy. Didn’t really have to adjust it but the slight bit that I did adjust, *chefs kiss*I have nothing bad to say about this monitor! I would recommend it to anyone looking for quality picture and ultrawide size, and great price. Also after having a 49″ monitor it’s hard to go back to only using anything smaller 🙂

Went from a first-gen QD-OLED monitor to this one. Colors and brightness are fantastic. 240hz is noticeable improvement vs 144/165hz. 3 year warranty, covering burn-in as well! Add Microsoft Powertoys and productivity is a blast too.Highly recommended.
