Best for short POV videos
This is a surprisingly capable action camera. It can shoot about an hour at 4k 30fps before needing to be charged again. It’s generally best used body worn on chest straps or headgear etc- and makes it fairly cumbersome for selfies or narrator-facing shots. Might be seen as complementary to the larger capacity action 5 (or soon to be announced action 6). Setup was a bit finicky but with practice its become second nature. Also one may need a usba to usbc cable for older macs(that can do data transfer not merely charge)

I bought this product on September 25th, on Amazon via the “Official” DJI Store, and received it on September 27th… I know this because, when I search on the Official DJI website for how to buy this product online… that link takes me directly to the same web page for the Amazon USA Site…On Sept 28, after I had already ‘activated’ it online via the official required DJI Process… I logged into my DJI account and learned that this product is NOT eligible for their official ‘DJI Care Service’ program. A shot time later, I entered into a chat with DJI via their official website, and long story is — after verifing my serial number, I was sold a “Gray Market” product because I was told that my serial number indicates that it was intended for another “Regiaon” of the world, and NOT the USA… even though it was sold via theirr ‘official’ Amazon store…My “Chat Inquiry” was then escalated to the “highest-level customer service”… Some six hours later, I got an official email response from an employee named Aprail, of the DJI Service Team, confirming the same information as above… and that they were sorry they would NOT work with me to sell me a “Care Service” for this product…See the PDF image of their email response which I have attached…In summary, there are ongoing political issues between the USA and the Chinese Government. Excellent Choice for an action camera
I like the overall functionality of the camera. Battery duration is good enough but i would recommend to get the kit with the two spares and the charger. The automatic orientation of the video helps a lot when you export the media recorded.I was using a Go Pro 7 Black and in comparison, the media recorded here is much greater with the wide angle view less distorted and a much better performance on low light conditions.The only things i would criticize is that, in comparison with a Go Pro, the camera takes more time to connect to the phone for remote control, the connection is less stable and also it misses the capability to turn off and on the camera remotely. Things that the Go Pro Hero 7 can do but his one no.

Awesome action / vlogging camera. I have the Action 4 as well and this one is better in almost every way. It’s lighter even with the camera and screen combined, and the camera on its own is tiny and 50g. It records for a little over 2 hours at 4K25p with RockSteady and voice activation on, when the units are combined, which is plenty of battery life. It hasn’t turned off from overheating but it did stop charging the camera unit after about 30 mins at 4k25 while sitting stationary. It carried on recording past 1 hour before I switched it off. It does get hot when recording long videos but for usability, overheating isn’t really a problem, especially if you’re moving and getting air across it to cool it.It’s super useful to be able to separate the units so you can, for example, film something from ground level but not physically lower your head to the ground. It comes with a tilting cap clip that’s also magnetic and can act like a tiny up-and-down adjustable tripod (genius!), a sucker cup with ball swivel, the magnetic pendant and the camera itself is magnetic on two sides. Makes it really easy to attach it to things and place it basically anywhere. The video quality is excellent – I haven’t compared to my Action 4 directly but the low light performance does look much improved over that. I like that you can manually set shutter speed and ISO, it pairs to my DJI Mic Mini without needing a separate receiver. I just hope they update the firmware so you can view the video remotely while using a wireless mic. It’s really intuitive to use, like the Action 4, and you can set it so a double press of the button takes a video while a single press takes a hyperlapse or slow motion (whatever you used last) so it’s really quick to change between modes without even needing the screen unit. It charges fast – camera charges to 80% in 15 minutes and both units fully charge in a little over an hour. Works well with the Mimo app which is great for editing however I noticed there is no option in the app for 24 or 25 fps. Only 30 and 60. So if you record at 25 fps (to prevent light flickering if you’re in the UK) the app will convert it to 30. File transfer wirelessly is super fast. Definitely recommend the 128gb version because with 64gb you’ll find yourself having to transfer footage to an SD card constantly (64gb actually only has about 40gb usable storage). All in all a fantastic camera and more versatile than an Action 4.

Personalmente reputo l’Action 3 un grandissima action camera per un paio di motivi:1) Il sistema quick release per attaccare e staccare la camera è qualcosa di superbo, puoi cambiare varie inquadrature in un attimo con il sistema magnetico2) la ricarica è sorprendente per quanto è veloce, ed il tempo si sa, quando si vuole immortalare qualcosa è fondamentale3) si attiva in poco meno di 1sec semplicemente premendo il pulsante per registrare, basta che lo premi e anche se lo schermo si sta per attivare ( quindi è ancora spento ) la camera sta già registrando!! quindi anche qui addio tempi biblici di attivazione, hai un momento topico da immortalare e la camera è pronta da subito a registrare, questo punto unito al punto 1 e 2 fa la DIFFERENZA!3) touch screen frontale che posso usare anche con i guanti e funziona perfettamente anche se si bagna4) Batteria infinita, registro in 4k25fps e facendo spezzoni di video con le altre due batterie sono tranquillo che non resto senza caricail FOV è molto più ampio di Gopro a parità di settaggio per cui per me che la uso in moto in particolare ma in generale in situazioni di movimento è fantastico! Sicuramente non è dettagliata come colori e definizione come Gopro ( ma quest’ultima si sa aggiunge un sacco di Sharpening alle foto&video ), e qui veniamo forse all’unico “punto dolente” per cui il mio consiglio è sempre quello di fare video con il formato D-Cinelike e editarlo in post produzione migliorandone la nitidezza e i colori. Avrete un video nettamente più nitido e dettagliato che usando il formato Normal dove fa tutto la camera. Anche per le foto vale la stessa, cosa scattate in RAW, questa camera manca di nitidezza è questo il punto, ma basta usare un app sul cellulare di editing o un programma di foto ritocco sul PC e si aggiunge un pò di nitidezza e colori ed il gioco è fatto.Per me assolutamente consigliata per quello che costa top!
