TRENDnet Switch
This TRENDnet 8 Port Gigabit desktop switch has been a great performer for me the last two years. Great compact size, adequate and bright face lights. I’ll buy again if/when I need one.

Works as intended and supports my needs well
one of the few 8 port gigabit switches I could find that has connections on the back and lights on the front to display activity. I have this on a shelf with the wiring coming in from behind through a hole in the cabinet. Did not like other units where ports and lights are on one side. Worked well right out of the box and has been working well since hooked up (about 2 weeks).

Good simple basic switch
Well, Internet provider (frontier, ugh) upgraded the router to an Eero (yeah, I had never heard of it as well), which only has one ethernet port (the previous one had 5), and I had multiple things wired up so, off to buy a switch. Now, I didn’t do packet-snooping, stress testing, etc so if you are looking for that, sorry.Switch is an 8 port switch with jacks in the back of the unit, which is what my main factor was (this sits in a cubby-hole and I wanted a clean look). Further, the power jack is also in the back (there is another brand out there that had it in the side, that’s just dumb).Lights on the front are only one color, but do blink with network activity on each port. There is not a dual light to tell you if you got 100 mbs or 1 Gbps connection, but IMO that wasn’t a show stopper. I can look at the ethernet settings on the laptop to confirm it hooked up at 1 gpbs.Trendnet is a lifetime product, which is unheard of most of the time. The unit runs cool as well, even without a fan integrated into it.All in all, it is a good, basic, simple switch.

Too loud for bedroom use
When I first turned it on, the fans spun up to max speed, then went back down, but even after prolonged use, there is often some kind of fan noise that is greater than the other networking equipment in my bedroom. I should have checked and bought something fanless, even if it meant fewer ports.I did not get a chance to test the speed (it can go above 1 gigabit/sec, that’s all I can say for certain as I did not do any proper testing/benchmarking), and I only used it for a couple of days, so I have no idea how reliable it is in the long run.Only buy this if you plan on putting it somewhere where the extra noise will not bother you.

Stability
Speed is stable and not so hot

It has the ports and power in the back. Thank god
Great little switch, fit perfect for our application. I need access so it’s in a cubby on my main desk, but there’s a false back so I can swap cables with little disruption. Take a small power cable that goes to a medium size power brick. Moderately bright lights for status. The best part all the cables are in the back, ports for cables. So many switches now have front power plugs. This makes for a horrible installation imho. Best to keep all your cables on the same side, this also makes sense from a noise isolation stand standpoint. Great switch, easy as it comes to setup and has a great support plan included. They warranty the unit itself for life, you won’t need to use that warranty. These things once they work will work for 10-20 years if left undisturbed. Don’t over think it. Speeds are as advertised. I’d buy another one. Metal case with a small footprint as well.

Fan noise and heat fix!
In regard of the item, its is very good. I have had zero issues whatsoever when it comes to performance but there is a heat and fan noise issue.I opened the item myself because a $300 item shouldn’t make this much noise and it shouldn’t get this how. Come to find out the fan was installed WRONG! Instead of pushing all the hot air OUT of the metal casing, it was pushing hot air IN too the components with no other place for the hot air to exhaust. If you having issues, I would recommend (If you know what you are doing) and checking of the fan is installed correctly. The sticker side should be facing the ventilation hole, NOT the components. zAfter installing properly and doing Trendnets job. The temperatures have lowered significantly, its NOT extremely hot to the touch anymore and the fan noise are there but extremely reduced. Instead of hearing the noise from 10 plus feet away, now i can hear if im a 1 feet away.Hope this helps! Trendnet, you need to do better!

Was soll man sagen, tut, was es soll. Stromverbrauch ist recht hoch, aber das ist bei 10GB leider immer noch der Fall

Too big and noisy
