What could be bad with less remotes? Love this device.
Before purchasing this device from Roku, I was using a soundbar that had a remote, TV that had a remote, Chromecast that had a remote and Fire Stick that had a remote. Since getting the Roku, I have removed the Fire Stick and Soundbar. The Roku soundbar has excellent sound, speed, and is so easy to use. Setting up the apps I use was flawless. The quality and speed of the streaming is great and I have not experienced any connectivity issues. Roku has so many channel options of their own. I love Howdy at 2.99 a month with no commercials. Well worth every penny. And best of all .. less remotes to accomplish what I need. I did keep the Chromecast on the tv for when I have a class to cast, but other than that, I use only one remote now.

Roku Streambar SE: Where Crystal Clear Sound Meets Streaming Magic
Small but PowerfulThe Roku Streambar SE is a fantastic upgrade for anyone looking to enhance their TV viewing experience. It provides immersive audio that truly brings movies and music to life. The setup is simple, just plug it in and connect to Wi-Fi for quick access to streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. If you don’t already have a Roku account, you’ll be prompted to create one, but after that, the installation process is seamless.I was pleasantly surprised to discover I was watching 1080P video until the Roku setup informed me that I could upgrade to 4K HDR10. And the setup process instructed me on how to make all the settings – which saved time. All in all it took about 5 minutes tops. For optimal performance, ensure you use an ARC (Audio Return Channel) HDMI port; fortunately, my TV had one. Make sure to enable ARC in your TV settings, as it’s often disabled by default—without it, your Streambar won’t play sounds from your TV or connected devices. The Roku setup will guide you through this if your TV supports it. Additionally, enabling HDMI-CEC allows you to control power and volume across devices easily. Finally, change your TV’s audio output format to PCM-Stereo, since the Streambar doesn’t support Dolby or DTS audio formats.Overall, the Roku Streambar SE combines exceptional sound quality with convenience, making it a valuable addition to your home entertainment setup! To ensure the Roku Streambar SE works effectively with your TV, it needs to have the following three features:ARC (Audio Return Channel) HDMI Port: This allows for seamless audio transmission from your TV to the soundbar. Make sure to enable ARC in your TV settings, as it is often disabled by default.HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control): This feature allows you to control basic functions, such as power and volume, across different devices with a single remote, improving convenience and usability.PCM-Stereo Audio Output Format: Since the Roku Streambar does not support Dolby or DTS audio formats, your TV’s audio output must be set to PCM-Stereo for optimal performance.Hope this helps.

It really does have theatre sound!
Be sure you have Roku StreamBar SE plugged into the ARC, eARC, or CEC HDMI port on your TV or it can’t work. Be sure to check your TV and Roku settings to make sure the ARC, eARC or CEC setting is turned on. Older TVs may not have those features available. If not, this item won’t work. We ordered it for our newer smart TV, and my reaction when I first heard the sound from this small streambar was, “WOW!” Too bad it came with an older, non-voice activared Roku remote. We already had two voice activated Roku remotes, and were able to pair them to the streambar. We’ve only had it installed for 2 days, but love the adjustable sound. On ‘movie’ setting, it really does have theatre sound.

ROKU asked me how my new StreamBar SE was doing. Obviously. (why didn’t you TELL me 100 char. limit?
The new StreamBar SE seems to be doing OK. Actually, it is a replacement for an older model streambar. Both it, and my two other ROKU Sticks experience extreme audio anomalies for no particular reason. Both of them would randomly just go wacko; any one of multiple experiences as if they were demon-possessed. It could be it would suddenly go extremely loud with distortion, sometimes so extreme the audio was unintelligible, Or, it would go to extremely low audio, but not to zero. Or virtually anything in between. Audio controls had no affect, so it was not the TVs. And it did not require a reboot to clear; only needed to reload the channel I was listening to. And no, it did not matter what content I was listening to. Although it did seem to happen mostly after I had been listening to a channel for some time; hours, maybe half a day.I had complained about this problem on the ROKU forum, and other people had similar problems. I know ROKU monitors these forums, and had hoped maybe they would be magnanimous enough to offer a replacement with a new model of the Sticks, at least. But no, just crickets. Before I replaced the StreamBar, I tested out an Amazon Fire Stick, but I hated it. Poor format, plus could not get one of my prepaid subscriptions to recognize. So I was willing to go off the Plantation, so-to-speak, that’s how bad the audio problem was/is (still is with the sticks, but it does not happen all the time. Still annoying.)One other thing. I would pay almost anything if ROKU would implement THIS feature, and it seems it should be pretty easy to implement in the software, possibly even an update. Allow all ROKU streamers on the same network to be able to synchronize themselves. I am at home all day. I have one TV in the kitchen that is on 24/7, and the big living room TV. I do all my serious watching in the living room. But whenever I get up to go to the kitchen, it sure would be nice to have the kitchen TV synced to the living room. Every once in a while, it will be fairly close, where there is just an echo. And once or twice, it was absolutely spot on. But even then, it doesn’t last very long before one or the other will fall behind. I always end up muting the kitchen TV when I go into the living room, and visa versa if I am going to be in the kitchen a little while. It would be so nice if they were in sync and I could just leave them alone. HOW ABOUT IT? CAN YOU SYNC THE STREAMERS? I WOULD PAY FOR THAT.

Don’t let this little soundbar fool you into thinking it’s not powerful. I was looking to simplify my audio setup and didn’t even know Roku made a soundbar. The added bonus is it has the smart tv features built right into it. The sound gets loud. I mean loud and punchy. If your using this in a bedroom or office believe me it’s more than enough for casual tv watching and music. Roku seems to have discontinued this so get them while they last. However… I was not pleased at all this was shipped in a flimsy thin paper Amazon bag as the corners were all dented and pushed in as if it had been thrown around and handled roughly. Other than the packaging I highly recommend this soundbar.

Bought the Roku Streambar SE to enhance the sound on content played through streaming – especially Music (Spotify & Apple Music) – fulfils that goal. However the device was shipped with a US plug (I think it was US, Might be Europe) – suffice to say it doesn’t wok in the UK without an adapter…. hence the 2 star rating

This sound bar solved a big problem for me. I got an Epson projector for my kids, which was great quality and reasonably priced, but speaker was incredibly awful and it only had one HDMI input and no sound inputs. The Roku sound bar was the only thing I found that fixed the sound issue and allowed using all the streaming services with just a single HDMI port available on my projector. I’m not an audiophile so I can’t comment on the sound quality, but it’s exponentially better than the projector speaker. The Roku services, as usual, are great. It’s also nice and small. Unfortunately it seems Roku has discontinued its sound bars, which is unfortunate given their good reviews. If you can pick one up to fix your projector sound problems it’s worth it.
