    My favorite computer case N400
I really like this case a lot. I always put a DVD burner in my case and the good cases that have 5.25 inch opening are getting to be rare. I like the layout of the hard drives because they are easy to get to and there are a lot of places to put a lot of drives. The quantity of fans is really useful to keep the inside cool and the placement of the fans is great. The hardware is good and there are no sharp edges. It is very sturdy and has no flimsy places on it like some cases. I like the USB ports on the front but I just wish they could have been just a little bit higher up but it works well anyway. I don’t need any clear sides so this case is just what i wanted. If I need another case, this is the one I will buy.

Perfect ATX case with optical bays and great airflow
Purchase to house a plex server because of the dual 5.25 bays for optical drives. The case is solid. Weight is actually light for the size. Sufficient airflow has kept the 5080 cool. It looks like a standard office pc. And just like the little MATX case it is perfect for cable management.

Provides able storage drive space at a budget friendly price
I bought the Cooler Master N400 to hold my modest TrueNAS CORE build. I had 4 x 3.5″ hard drives cramped into a smaller OEM case, and wanted something that could neatly hold my current system, with space for 8-10 3.5″ drives total for future growth. The N400 checked those boxes, and was only about $70. There are more premium cases with lots of room for storage, but many cost twice as much.I completed the build, and this case was what I hoped for. I particularly liked the 2 quality 120mm Cooler Master fans it comes with. I put both in front as intake, and added another fan I had in back as exhaust. Air flow is good, and there is enough space for cable management to make the drive cage clear for maintenance and new future drives. However, this does feel like a cheaper case, and there were a few annoyances:Pros:- Space for 10 total 3.5″ drives (8 + 2 more if you adapt the 5.25″ bays) plus 2 x 2.5″ SSDs- mATX and ATC mobo support- ample ventilation and options for case fan configuration- 2 included 120mm fans (3-pin)- adequate included standoffs, screws, etc. for mounting hardware- inexpensiveSome cons:- 2.5″ SSDs aren’t held too well by the included plastic bracket, and when in place the screws are blocked on one side of several of the 3.5″ drives- Dust filter for the PSU intake on the bottom of the case is on the inside, between the PSU and the floor of the case. This means that to remove and clean it you’d have to remove the PSU (?). I chose to flip the PSU so that it draws air from the case and exhausts it out the back.- No cutout for routing the CPU power cable up behind the mobo and down from the corner where most plugs are- Other space for cable management behind the mobo tray isn’t great (just a channel along the bottom)It’s not perfect, but overall this case is just what I needed at the right price.

    A little short on parts
The case is nice and has good positions for airflow.PRO: Full wrap around areas for fans.Clips for the three external drives and two internal drivesAdd-on plastic mount for 2-2.5-inch drives. It relocates if you put a side fan in.CONS: Not enough BLACK fan screws to add more. I used the ONE SET for one top fan. All others I had to use metal colored ones.Only two sets of HDD “clips.” The other drives require screw mounting (screws included). A cheap shot.DISREGARD the mounting point letters embossed in the case. Your board doesn’t need all of them. Line it up and decide.NOT ENOUGH standoff legs if you had to locate them everywhere they say. You would need extras from previous installs. As usual, the printed instructions suck!! Their desire to do it in a myriad of languages caused them to make VERY SMALL print. Even then, it is just what the places are–no details!!There is plenty of room in the case!! Routing cables out of the way is no problem. Even with my power supply that has four 12V cables. A few tabs with holes to use the included zip ties would be nice!! A small pack of stick on cable router tabs ($2-3) solves that.Update 10-30-2013:The HDDs are a very tight slide in and out. So I took two clips off the other side and used them on two more drives. Since they are not being pushed (like a DVD or card reader), one clip holds them well. For the faint of heart, you can put one screw on the other side of the rack, but that defeats the whole purpose.Hint: the top fan mounts have a filter screen. Since top fans blow out (or should!), there is no reason to filter air coming out of the case. Since you want a positive pressure, I only put one fan in and slowed it down with a controller. NOTE: If you are mounting a fan horizontally like that, use a ball bearing fan. A sleeve bearing fan will get noisy and wear faster in that position.Since the rear top fan position sits right above my CPU cooler, I blocked that fan port using 3M 1080 I had left over from a car project. CPU fans blow ONTO the CPU, so I didn’t want to take air from that. The top filter will be cut down and used on other intake fans. Cheaper than buying a filter. Another problem I found with that top filter was the fan was putting almost as much air down as it was out. Self defeating!! Once the filter was removed it works as it should. All in all, I would recommend the case for those used to doing builds. First timers may find it frustrating. Especially the header cables.Just 1/2-inch taller, and leaving the MB ports where they are, would keep a top fan from interfering with installing my RAM cooler fans. I am looking for a thinner fan now.

A great case for those who want a simple yes classy design. Enough room for several additional fans if desired, and was mostly easy to work with. Some areas are a bit tricky to deal with compared to some cases that make life simpler, but everything is made solid and most of the case is metal, so there isn’t really any cheap plastic involved. This makes for a sturdy case with decent room for whatever you might need in any good-tier computer builds

The N400 offers a decent number of drive bays and airflow options, but several design choices made the building experience more frustrating than it needed to be.* The PCIe slot covers are flimsy and do not provide much support for add-in cards, resulting in poor alignment with the motherboard slots.* Only two of the 3.5” drive bays include tool-free mounts, while the rest require screws.* The 2.5” SSD mounting system is also of low quality and difficult to manage, making cable routing more challenging than it should be.* There is very little space above the motherboard, which makes it difficult to connect cables, especially when using a tower cooler. While the case technically supports two fans in this area, there is realistically no room for them if a larger air cooler is installed. The same goes for the two fans which can be installed behind the drive bay, as they share the same space as the 2.5″ mounting adapter.* The case is not designed with right-angle motherboard connectors in mind, meaning compatibility may vary when using SATA, USB, 24-pin power connectors etc.* The included fans are functional but do not compare well with modern, quieter alternatives.* The dust filters are not easy to remove for cleaning.* The case does not come with common motherboard standoffs pre-installed (e.g those shared by both ATX and mATX), which adds an unnecessary step to the building process.* There is no AIO support here. You might get one mounted on the rear 120mm fan, but that isn’t going to be enough for modern hardware. If a budget case with storage capacity is the main priority, it can be made to work, especially as you’ll be saving a lot of money vs alternative high-drive capacity cases.
