Sturdy Construction: The handle features a premium wooden exterior over an integrated aluminum alloy core, which combines natural warmth, slip-resistant with exceptional durability. The high-strength aluminum alloy and wood composite structure supports up to 15kg / 33.1lb load capacity.
Interchangeable for Left and Right Hands: This contoured grip ensures comfortable operation for both left and right-handed users. The handle can be repositioned on either side of your rig by detaching and reversing the aluminum connector.

Comfortable and professional
This side handle completely changes the feel of my setup. Without it, the cage is just a metal box-but with the handle, it feels like a proper camera built for handheld shooting. The wooden grip is smooth and comfortable, and it doesn’t get slippery even after long takes. The metal hardware feels tough, like it can handle serious use. It attaches securely, no creaks orwobbles, and the placement gives way more stability when panning or doing handheld moves. It also makes carrying the rig between shots much easier. it’s one of those small upgrades that makes a huge difference. Worth every penny and fits the camera perfectly as well as working super well

It’s built well and does the job
Ergonomic and comfortable to use, this wooden handle provides a nice, rustic touch to my rig and functions as described. It locks into place firmly with assurance that this won’t move or loosen over the course of my shoot. The size is slightly small, but that keeps the rig small so I can appreciate this for small quick shoots and small camera builds. Overall, it’s built well and does the job.

I’m surprised by the lower star ratings from people that got this for FREE, I actually paid for it and think it fits perfectly in my hand and to assemble it took all of 20 seconds. I’m using it for an audio rig with nato so I can easily and quickly switch it to a camera rig.

Basic and universal
I love that this handle is universal. Left or right, it works either way. The NATO clamp locks down tight, giving a nice sense of security. The handle works extremely well. The wood handle looks and feels nice in the hand. The overall build quality is super nice. My only complaint is it doesn’t rotate. It would have been nice for it to be rotatable to fit different angles.

If your hand is shorter than 8.5″ you may want to stay away
Why oh why did they choose this shape? I thought I’d take a chance since their metal one looked the same size. The metal handles fit much better in your hand. This one is round and 1.75″ in diameter. I have a hand that measures 7.5″ from middle finger tip to base of my palm and this was a chore to hold. It felt like the grip strengthening wraps you can add to dumbbells. A friend with 8.5″ long hands could hold it with less strain but also didn’t find the shape comfortable.Pros:Nicely made out of wood.Mounting arm can attached to either side.1/4-20 with locating holes.Cold shoe, Strap Slot and included recessed Allen wrench.Cons:Shape and diameter.

Excellent Handle, But Be Prepared for a Frustrating Initial Setup
Full Disclosure: This product was received for free as part of the Vine Program.As a long-time user of SmallRig products, I’ve come to expect a high level of quality and user-friendly design. While this wooden side handle ultimately delivers on performance, it’s a rare case where the setup process was genuinely frustrating.The main issue lies in configuring the handle for left or right-sided use. To do this, you must detach and reposition a small metal connecting plate held in place by two tiny screws. The parts are fiddly, and the process is surprisingly tedious and time-consuming for what should be a simple adjustment.However, once you get past that one-time assembly hurdle, the handle is excellent. It lives up to the SmallRig name in every other way:The wooden grip is ergonomic and feels great in the hand.The NATO clamp provides a rock-solid, secure connection to a camera cage.The overall build quality is robust and feels like it can easily handle a heavy rig.This handle earns a 4/5 star rating from me. The end product is fantastic, but be prepared for a frustrating initial setup when switching it from its default configuration.
