Decent little APU, not super strong, but able to handle some fairly cpu intense games. 7 days to die (with upscaling and frame generation) is pretty playable at high settings (1080P) Definitely some artifacts from the frame gen/upscaling, but playable.For the price it’s not bad, but it is not a stand in for a dedicated GPU. Unless you play at low settings. Good for budget builds, and if you add a dedicated GPU it seems to perform fairly well if paired with a solid ram set.bonus perk, good for troubleshooting GPU display issues.

Was bought to test out if it is good enough to replace a Ryzen 7 5700G setup.Pro 1: Worth cost of entry to AM5. It essentially matches the Ryzen 7 5700G in performance with less and weaker cores (more on that in the cons).Pro 2: Extremely easy to cool.Pro 3: Decent beginner gaming. It can play AAA games at 1080p w/ low settings ~30 FPS. It can play Indie games at 1080p with mid to high settings depending on the game.Con 1: Not a true Zen 4 CPU because 4 out of 6 cores is smaller and the MHz is cut down. AMD calls them Zen 4c cores.Con 2: Annoying IHS that traps TIM.Pro Tip: The Zen 4c cores are actual desktop CPU cores and not laptop cores like Intel’s E-Cores.*** UPDATE ***No longer recommend as entry to AM5 because the 8600G has dropped significantly in cost.

Good low cost cpu.
I bought this cpu to ensure that I could update the bios on an ASUS strix x670e-f motherboard that I wanted to run a Ryzen 9 9950x cpu in. (The default bios was not supposed to support a Ryzen 9 processor.) It turned out that I could update the bios with the Ryzen 9 installed. Later I found out that the motherboard did not support thunderboltEX4 either. I had to buy another motherboard with usb4 built in. So, I decided to build an additional “stripper” pc because I now had a spare motherboard and cpu. No video card I used the onboard video from the processor. It has no problem driving 2 monitors. I used the stock air cooler that was included with the cpu. (I did add a couple more case fans to ensure that enough air would flow through the case.) Now I have 2 new computers!

Good For Tight Budgets
The Ryzen 5 8500G is not something I’d recommend for anyone who can afford a little extra to go for the Ryzen 5 8600g. However, it is still a good processor and it does what I need it to. I was on a very strict budget and the 8600g was outside of it. The good about the Ryzen 5 8500g is that it is a fast CPU with great onboard graphics.The main two problems I have with it are its limited PCIE lanes, making it terrible for upgrading to a dedicated GPU later down the lines, and the fact that its price is son similar to the 8600g that it makes more sense to buy that. The 8600g has enough PCIE lanes to afford a good dedicated GPU later down the line and it is slightly more powerful.

Avec une fréquence d’horloge allant jusqu’à 5,05 GHz et 6 cœurs, il offre d’excellentes performances pour les applications de bureau. Le socket AM5 et le cache secondaire de 16 Mo garantissent un traitement rapide et efficace.Le gpu intégré permet de faire tourner des jeux jusqu’à la ps3 mais c’est vraiment la limite. Perso j’ai ajouté une gtx 1660 ti.

Why did you choose this product over others?:Decided on this CPU for a new build for 2 reasons:First, the onboard GPU. It’s only a 740M yet enough grunt to get into your O/S or play a few games at stupidly low settings. It’s primary use is as a backup if the main GPU ever has any issues. Dual monitor options are also there if needed.Second reason for this CPU is it’s being paired with an Intel ARC B580. Due to the limitations of the CPU controller & the B580 only running at PCIe 4.0 x 8 this CPU is ideal. I’m also not planning on having an array of M.2 SSD’s as this will also eat into available lanes off the CPU so BE AWARE of that.It’s also super quiet, low power draw & comes with a fan/cooler. Thermal paste is already applied to the base of the Fan Heat-sink so no need to mess about with that (unless you’re nervous and want to dab more onto the CPU).Max Memory speed is “supposed to be” DDR5 @ 5200mt/s.I’m actually running it @ 5600mt/s (dual channel ~ 16gb per channel) and it’s fine. I did try 6000mt/s as the memory modules I’m using support that speed but the CPU didn’t like that and kept rebooting. Memory & CPU are happy at it’s current speed so I’ll leave it as that.As It’s for a cheap-ish gaming build, I’ve not had any issues. ARC GPU seems to love running with this CPU & I’m getting a lot higher FPS than all the reviews would suggest otherwise.Works for what I’ve set it up for – just be aware of the CPU onboard PCIe & memory limitations and you’ll be fine.
